Siskal

// Ingredients

• Cornmeal — 400 g
• Hot water — 300 ml
• Salt — ½ tsp
• Butter or cottage cheese to serve

// Method

1. 01Mix the cornmeal with the salt and pour in the hot water, stirring with a spoon.
2. 02When cool enough, knead with your hands into a firm dough.
3. 03Shape 2 cm thick oval cakes, smoothing them with your palms.
4. 04Bake in a dry pan under a lid for 10–12 minutes on each side, or in the oven at 200 °C for 25 minutes.
5. 05They should have a crust and be cooked through.
6. 06Serve hot with butter, cottage cheese or zhizhig-galnash.
